Chasing the 70s

That’s what one RVing couple has as their slogan, “Chasing the 70s”

Which makes the current temperature of 75 perfect right?

Except it is now 12:03 am.

Which is not the time of day you want it to be 75°.

Not good sleeping weather.

Here’s the temperature map for Wednesday’s high temps here in Texas:

Wed High

I’m about halfway between Houston and Lufkin. Yes in that red zone. With highs in the mid-80s.

Which means I will have to run my air conditioner again later today since the sun beating on my RV will bring it up into the 90s in here.

So I’d like to move somewhere cooler.

Mpls Wed

Yeah, there. To Minneapolis. Except a high in the low-40s isn’t exactly inviting either. That probably wouldn’t be warm enough to thaw my tanks after they froze overnight. And frozen plumbing is NOT a good thing.

What I’m looking for is the yellow band. That’s where the high is in the 7os.

USA Wed

See it? Not a very big target is it?

But you know what they say about Spring weather–if you don’t like it just wait; it will change.

So Thursday in Texas looks like this:

Thurs High

And Friday looks like this:

Fri High

So, if I can talk myself into coming right back here after grocery shopping, perfect weather will come to me.

Maybe.

You know how accurate these forecasts are in real life.

TTYL,

Linda

  1. I love the 70’s but only during daylight hours. That’s a good thing because in the Pacific NW during the summer daylight comes about 5:00 AM and lasts until about 10 PM. We lived in Texas for about 20 years. Night time temperatures during the summer never cooled down much. The air conditioner ran 24 hours a day. Ugh! We didn’t like that at all.

  2. weird is just another name for spring here!
we were told to expect baseball size hail probable and then about 9pm the sirens went off in the city here. it was rotating over us but never touched down. and we never got the hail. thank goodness.
now tonight it’s to drop down to 30 degrees. fun city. LOL.
you must feel like you’ll never get home at this rate! poor dave. he’s missing you i know. and vice versa!
at this point … i think i’d park that sweet rv where the tanks wouldn’t freeze and catch a plane or bus home then go get it later!!! i admire your patience. i do.

  3. Glad I pressed on and got to Scott, LA, yesterday. Today’s winds are something I wouldn’t want to drive in. Better to wait out the weather in my book.

  4. One of the reasons I drove 15 hours on Tues to finish the trip home was that the entire I 85 corridor was going to be under severe weather threats on Wed. I made it home and when I looked at the weather map off and on yesterday, I was glad I hadn’t waited. There were some pretty nasty storms up and down 85 where I would have been driving had I not gone on in Tues night.
