Going south?

People keep asking me when I am going south this year. My all purpose answer is, “It depends.”

First my doctor need to release me to travel at all.

Then I need to repack the van.

But I do know I won’t be leaving as early this year as I did last year. I missed Dave too much to be gone that long again.

So, the plan for now is to drain and rinse my fresh water tank but leave the RV antifreeze in the rest of the plumbing system and leave a valve open on the fresh water tank so what remains in it can evaporate or expand. That way, if I go, I can go after the weather starts to freeze here but before driving on the roads gets too risky. Once I move into the van, where I’ll be using the furnace to keep the interior warm and where all the plumbing is except the holding tanks, I can fill my water tank, run enough water through my pipes to stop having pink water come out of them, turn off the water heater bypass and start using my own water system. There’s really no need to dump the antifreeze from the holding tanks until I need to dump them anyway and by that time I should be in Texas.

So that’s the plan.

If I go at all.

The Incredible Shrinking Woman

That’s me.

No, I didn’t suddenly get skinny.

My doctor measured my height the other day. I am 1/2″ shorter than I was last year.

Then she sent me to physical therapy for my lower back pain.

The therapist says it might be arthritis in my spine.

When the arthritis in my knees got too painful, I had them replaced with titanium ones.

I don’t think they do spine replacements; do they?

About war

I don’t mean to be turning this into a political blog and I’m not sure the post this links to is political per se but the author said so well something I think needs saying that I am passing it on: http://exilelifestyle.com/not-our-histories/

Independence Day

I’d love to see our country be one in which every family has the ability to be housed in a safe manner.

I’d love to see our country be one where each family can afford to choose to eat healthfully

I’d love to see our country have a health care system that allows all persons to choose their medical care–to have control over their own bodies–including the right to die peacefully.

I’d love to see our country be one where each individual is allowed to choose who to love and marry.

I’d love to see our country be one in which our government keeps its promises. Promises such as having the National Guard be restricted to helping those within our own borders rather than being forced to go abroad to die or be maimed which is not what they signed up for.

I’d love to see our country be one in which we spend as much money taking care of our own as we spend taking care of other countries even if that means offering less help to other countries.

As wonderful as it is for so many of us already, think what life here would be if we could all be free to choose when it comes to life’s necessities.

Independent indeed.

Linda
