Zany brain hits again

Many, many people have already voted in this election.

Many, many people have died of Covid-19.

I wonder, by November 3rd, how many dead people will have voted this year?

Part 2:

There’s a type of personality characteristic called projection. That’s where you accuse someone else of having characteristics that are actually yours. Like Trump accusing Democrats of messing with mail-in voting while having appointed a postmaster general who is doing just that.

Book Review, Sort of

I’m about to recommend a book I have not read. It is Holmes on the Range by Steve Hockensmith and it is available on Amazon–free if you subscribe to Amazon Prime as we do.

The story is about two cowboys in the old west. The older brother has recently read a story about Sherlock Holmes and has decided he is capable of deductive reasoning. In the prelude, the younger brother says, “this was my first opportunity to be alone that didn’t involve an outhouse and the attendant odors thereof.”

Then chapter one starts with these words. “You can follow a trail without even knowing you are on it. You start out just ambling, maybe get to thinking you are lost–but you’re headed somewhere all the same. You just don’t know it until you get there.”

Just that much and I am hooked. I am quite certain I will enjoy this book.

Maybe you will, too.

ps. I enjoyed it enough that I am now reading book two of the series.

I am sorry for misleading those of you who don’t have Kindle Unlimited. I don’t always understand what Dave has done to make things available to me.

Introversion

This is a good time to be an introvert. Those of us who get our power by avoiding people are doing well during this pandemic.

But, even introverts need some time with other people.

I fill most of that need by spending time with Dave.

I fill more of it by spending time on-line helping and being helped by other people.

And I get a little of it during medical appointments.

But, I decided I need just a tiny bit more face to face interaction to improve my health. What that actually means is I need more physical activity. So, I have started going to the health center here to use their NuStep machine. That means I have to talk to one of their two staff people to make an appointment. And I have to stop at the front desk to have my temperature taken to be sure I am not contagious before the fitness center will let me in. And I have to spend some time in the fitness center itself. All of these things are done while everyone is wearing a mask, of course, and most of it is done while maintaining social distancing.

Leaving the apartment twice a week is providing a LOT more social interaction than I’ve had for many months.

But it’s a good thing our huge windows face a nature preserve because I’m still not actually going outside.
