Skinny feet?

For many years my feet and ankles have swelled in the evenings. This last winter when I was preparing to go out to dinner with friends I discovered not only could I not buckle my sandals, I couldn’t even make the straps reach around them.

So I did what doctors always tell you to do. Cut back on my salt and elevated my feet in the evenings.

Didn’t help.

Yet, I’m now having trouble keeping my slippers on my feet and at 7:00 pm after eating a heavily salted supper my feet and ankles look like this:

feet Do those look swollen to you? Me neither. Yes, they are up on a hassock but I put them there just to take this photo. First time they’ve been up all day today.

What changed?

This:

t-tapp I ordered these exercise DVDs just before I headed home for the summer and they were waiting for me when I got there.

I started right in doing these exercises every day to jump start the program and I now do them several times a week.

One of the advertised benefits of this program is better “Lymphatic Function”. Wanting to know what that meant I Googled lymphatic and learned this from Wikipedia, “Lymphedema is the swelling caused by the accumulation of lymph fluid, which may occur if the lymphatic system is damaged or has malformations. It usually affects limbs, though face, neck and abdomen may also be affected.”

So this program and my improved lymphatic system has removed my daily swelling of my feet and ankles.

And stopped my feet from sweating all the time.

And improved my posture.

And the way my clothes fit.

And my mood.

  1. Checking this out…was really interested after I saw an article from my good friend and thyroid specialist, Mary Shomon, wrote an article about it. Thanks….

  2. I’ve been really lucky with my feet and legs not swelling. My friend who is doing the reflexology worked on my lymph whatevers in my feet but she said mine seemed to be working quite well. Thank goodness. I bet you do feel better now. Way to go.

  3. I wish she’d do one of those videos that’s sort of a “demo”, with each step slowly shown, so those of us with less-than-great hearing could “get” what it is she’s saying. I get lost on phrase 2 (maybe phrase 3 if I’m lucky) then have to start again…and again…wish I could do these as I like that there’s no music competing for my ears’ attention. I wrote and asked, and called too, but sounds like they’ve no plans to make any such thing, though.

Glad you’re having good success with it; I think I would too if I could do it. In her book she makes good sense, and makes it all quite understandable.

  4. The best part is that you feel so much better! Good for you! My brother has the same issue. I wonder if it would help him. I might check it out.

  5. well. you are an inspiration to me! in many ways other than this. but this one is major for me.
I’ve been doing her moves too. since you told me about her.
and in the meantime I found out that the new meds the cardiologist has me on…
you guessed it. a major side effect is swelling of face and ankles.
so. I will keep on with tap~it lady and see him again on july 10th to test and change meds yet once again if necessary. congestive heart failure.
carrying a lot of water weight right now. very discouraging.
I’ve also taken up my beloved yoga again. I can’t do all the inverted postures because of heart. but I love it so! keeps me limber.
