Mindset

The word mindset means you have set your mind on something.

I play solitaire on my phone. I have guidelines I use to determine which cards to play when. That way I can mindlessly click through the game without having to think. A couple of days ago I changed my mind about how I would play. Instead of mindlessly following my old guidelines I would pay attention to what choices were available then choose my moves deliberately. Since then I have been winning a lot more games.

What’s your mindset about sheltering in place? Are you resenting the limitations put on you? Or are you seeing the opportunities?

Is this a good time for you to finally…

…deep clean your home?

…sort that collection of photographs?

…read that pile of books you’ve been meaning to get to?

…research something on line that has been puzzling you?

…make all those phone calls you been postponing?

…finish that project you started ages ago then abandoned?

…start that new healthy behavior you’ve been considering?

Is there anything on your mind you suddenly have the time to do?

Linda

  1. it’s interesting.
all my growing up years were spent in trying to fit in.
every new place. a constant adjustment. no time to be shy!
because I was an introvert in a usually extroverted world.
then now everyone is gone and I’m retired and I’m free to completely BE myself.
I am as happy as a clam! (that’s an old saying. apparently clams are very happy)
I am never bored. it’s true. there are too many things to be interested in!
and I’m not a ‘wanter’ of things! that helps too. I always have hated to shop.
I love sunshine and rain and birds and nature in general. and always DOGS!
I think the secret to living this kind of life is to be EASY to PLEASE!
whether in food or games or entertainment!
at least that’s my take on it.
it’s interesting to see all the different ways people are coping with it. xoxo

  2. I’m in wax/wane mode with this new situation – we are in full lockdown in New Zealand – and there are different levels. Some of the Level 2 people which I fell into, believe that’s been overturned and that we are all on Level 4. I don’t see it that way at all, Level 2 restricted me from many things – not because I was over 70 the first need but from the health issues that I have.

Right after that happened a friend of mine messaged me to say “yell out if you need/want anything…” she knew that I have health issues that fell into Level 2, she knew I’m home alone and have no car.

Of course this here Ms Independent had a lot of trouble with that notion but yesterday H/friend picked up some foodstuffs for me at the supermarket, when she did her family’s shopping. I didn’t need much…most things are back on the food shelves now, except FLOUR – but H used her noodle and bought me a cake packet mix …not made a cake mix for near on 30 years.

Because I’m in the Southern Hemisphere – it actually coming into winter – and although we had drought conditions most of summer, the weather is now changeable – colder night/morning but there is a sunny spot outdoors if I chose to go out there…

I’m best to stay home, in my “bubble” new trendy word during “lockdown” but I can take solitary walks locally only, practicing “social distancing” as I wander around…

Life has certainly taken a “turn” is it interesting…possibly. But what of the future, maybe more interesting…
