It’s all in the timing

When your vehicle is also your house and you are plugged into all the utilities (water, electricity, and sewer) you think twice and ask lots of questions before going out to run errands.

How many more meals can I make with the groceries I have on hand before I have to go to the grocery store?

How many changes of clean clothes do I have before I have to go do laundry?

How much fuel do I  have to run my furnace before I need to go get fuel?

Are there any other errands coming up I should wait for so I can do them too while I am out?

I have some of everything. So I wait.

But today is Sunday, tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, and the next day is New Year’s Day. What things will be open when?

And how much did I say I have?

Suddenly, I don’t get to decide.

My furnace decides it is done keeping me warm. And the nighttime temperatures have been in the 30s lately which is colder than I like to be. So I go out to get fuel. And groceries. And to wash my clothes.

In the rain.

  1. Now that you have all that out of the way, you can ring in the new year with full belly, lots of heat and smell outdoor fresh. Happy New Year.

  2. That’s right. The decisions aren’t always ours to make. Sometimes we have no choice. It rained here overnight too.

  3. I’ve often wondered how much of a hassle it would be to travel in only one vehicle and have to unhook, pack away every time you needed to go to the store. Cold and rainy here in AJ also.

  4. Well? I feel your pain … I’ve got to get out in the forecasted freezing rain and drive to? or just hunker down for more lovely time in this lovely M6… at least the roads are navigable… do I want to get stuff to hunker or do I want to drive on to ??? because there is nothing within hours that isn’t freezing cold…

I have got to do laundry… hate it … Food? I can walk to Subway or drive but then I have to do laundry because my very few winter clothes are all dirty … soooo do I wear my raincoat over summer clothes to go eat and do laundry? I’m also past a 1/4 tank … I always fill at 1/2 … but not this time!

Paid until tomorrow … and then what. sigh – did I mention that I am not a winter person…

  5. wow.
like being a pioneer in the 21st century.
but now it’s done i trust and you’re back. and i can picture you snug as a bug in a rug awaiting the
    new year.
